Humble beginnings

In late 2015 we started our endeavours for change in our hometown of Melbourne, Australia. Not having any idea if things would catch on, we set out to run a single event that would promote hearing awareness and fund hearing care for a singular Charity, All Ears Cambodia.

Cambodia is in a unique position, with the number of Audiologists in the country countable on just one hand.  All Ears Cambodia is an inspiration, instead of funding audiologists to travel in and work the field, they run a training school covering the cost of educating individuals from all walks of life to be hearing care clinicians. This way their work is entirely sustainable and supports local growth and outreach.

Our first event saw artists Fraser A. Gorman, ALTA, LANKS and Jim Lawrie coming on board, with DJ Sam Perry of Architecture in Helsinki between sets. Collingwood venue, The Gasometer Hotel opened their doors to us, and on a wintery Melbourne night we saw over 200 people come and party for a cause. Auslan Stage Left were on hand to interpret the lyrics of the night, bringing a magical element to the whole show. Seeing Deaf and hearing impaired people listening & watching together was a beautiful thing to behold.

Our first event raised over $4500, not bad for a first go! These funds went on to fund a street clinic run by All Ears Cambodia, treating hundreds of ears in rural fishing villages that might otherwise have gone uncared for.

We're so grateful to everyone who came on-board for our first event, including our partners of the night, HEARsmart, hearservice, Australian Hearing and the Deafness Foundation.

Together, through music, you can help us make a huge difference in someone's life.
